About the Tour

Gamle Innvik Ullvarefabrikk (the Old Woolen Mill in Innvik) contains a nationally renowned and unique industrial history.

The factory is thought to be the largest remaining wooden industrial building in Northern Europe, and was a groundbreaking company in Nordfjord, with its start as a wool spinning mill in 1890. The factory was powered entirely by hydroelectricity and contained both a spinning mill and a weaving mill until 1972. For almost 100 years, products such as suits , woollen blankets, and upholstery/furniture fabric were sent out to all corners of the world from this small village. The factory was one of the largest employers in the area, especially active in employing women.

Welcome to a tour of the old factory premises.

In addition to an exhibition featuring a partially intact machinery collection, objects, and pictures, you will experience the atmosphere that prevailed within the walls of the building, together with the architectural distinctiveness and robust construction of the building itself. You will see a film showing life at the factory and in the village in the old days and you will be served tea, coffee, and local delicacies in the homely factory cafe. You can round off the experience with a trip to the Ullvare store, where you will find local products for sale.

Highlights:

  • Transport to and from Innvik (15 min. each way)
  • Tour of the old factory with an experienced and knowledgeable local guide.
  • Film about life in Innvik and the factory in the old days
  • Light refreshments with coffee and tea in Ullvaren’s own cafe (included in the price).
